Just recently this non-watcher of TV saw, for the first time, video clips of Ann Coulter stating her positions.  Until then I had only seen one-line quotes of her statements, in newspapers.

In the video clips she was talking to Bill O’Reilly.

Ann Coulter thinks that anyone who disagrees with her, in any way, on any topic, is evil and unpatriotic.  According to her, there is no such thing as honest disagreement between people of good will.  The New England town meeting portrayed in a famous painting by Norman Rockwell would be anathema to her.

Ann Coulter therefore believes in authoritarian government.  She doesn’t believe in freedom,  She doesn’t believe in an open society.

Previous posts (Grover Norquist’s Un-American Political Philosphy, The Un-Americanism of the Tea Party) on this blog have shown in detail that a stance like hers is completely opposed to the principles upon which this country was founded.  She is the antithesis of James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington.

I was struck by the bitterness on her face.  She looked more like an evil witch than does any cartoon portrayal of one.  If I were a kid and came trick-or-treating to her door, and it was opened by such a hate-filled face, I would not wait around for candy.

Such bitterness shows that she has been deeply wounded.  What childhood or later abuse produced the Ann Coulter of today?

Was Bill O’Reilly using Ann Coulter to voice sentiments that he holds, but without having them be attributable to him?
